#ChangeYourSpots with Bridgestone and the Cape Leopard Trust

It's World Environment Day and to mark its 10th anniversary, the Cape Leopard Trust has partnered with Bridgestone to launch the #ChangeYourSpots campaign, encouraging South Africans to do exactly that.

When visiting www.treadsmartly.tv, supporters can describe how they will change their spots to make a difference - through donations or simply by sharing the plight of the Cape Leopard with their network of friends, colleagues and family. This campaign is just another way that Bridgestone is 'treading smartly'.

A leopard can't change its spots, but with a change in mindset, humans can

"A leopard can't change its spots, but we know that with a change in mindset, we humans can. So whether you start recycling, save water, put an end to a bad habit, support conservation efforts or help educate others on how to save the planet, Bridgestone and the Cape Leopard Trust want you to make the change," said Jan Maritz of Bridgestone South Africa, who has been involved as a major sponsor of the trust for the past five years.

The trust administers a conservation programme in the Western Cape, which includes conservation strategies, research projects and tourism initiatives focusing on using the iconic Cape leopard as an umbrella species to ensure broader environmental conservation. The organisation also runs a successful environmental education programme providing environmental camps and outings to educate and encourage youth to have a vested interest in the environment.

"We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with the #ChangeYourSpots campaign, and what better time to do so than around World Earth Day," said Dr Quinton Martins, Co-founder and CEO of the Cape Leopard Trust.

"Bridgestone has played an integral part in our project through sponsoring our entire fleet of vehicles with quality tyres, supporting our education initiative and generating much needed public awareness through channels such as this. We thank them for their continued support and hope that people will follow their lead in contributing to positive change."
