5FM unveils lineup changes

5FM confirmed yesterday, Tuesday, 27 March 2007, that as part of its redesigned programming to become the essential guide to everything that defines the weekend, starting this Sunday, 1 April, up-and-coming local DJ Euphonik will be joining the national youth radio station.

The weekday line-up remains mostly unchanged, with popular DJs Gareth Cliff, Elana Afrika, F&Martinengo, DJ Fresh, Nicole Fox and Koula aiming to continue to grow audiences.

Following on DJ Fresh’s drivetime show, slowly easing into the weekend from 4pm, Roger Goode now officially launches the 5FM Weekend on Fridays (first show on 6 April) from 7pm. This new show will link to Goode’s Saturday Surgery (which will continue on Saturdays from 6pm) and will feature an eclectic mix of new electronic party music “to get your jive talking”.

Goode’s Sunday show makes way for DJ Euphonik, who was first introduced to 5FM listeners on DJ Fresh’s Ultimix @6. Sunday nights will continue to be the leading force in quality, stylish house beats (8pm – 10pm). Euphonik will be followed by the newcomer with attitude, Ally Shina Rampola, who plans to share her passion and enthusiasm for music with late night listeners.

Mlu follows Roger on Friday nights for a weekly dose of The 5th Element from 10pm - zooming in on the hottest new, unsigned local DJs and never-heard-before productions on the horizon.

Fox has decided to take a break from her weekday show on Friday evenings, seeing that she is now also the voice behind the Pepsi World Chart Show (10am - 2pm) on Saturdays – there will also be new additions to this show over the next few months.
KB’s infectious mad energy will depart as the sporting guy on Gareth Cliff’s weekday breakfast, but will be reincarnated from 2pm until 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. These weekend “lifestyle” slots will cover what’s hot and the must-know in music, clubs, movies, trends, sports and everything that matters.

Catherine, DJ Fresh’s traffic reporter, is now the official voice behind 5FM Live on Saturdays from 5pm – featuring the best in local and international bands performing live on-air. Poppy, the sexy newsreader on The Fresh Drive, will be expanding her talents to the New Sound Selection on Sundays (5pm - 8pm) – premiering the latest, hottest new music to hit the playlists.

New voice Sias du Plessis from 702 Talk Radio will be bringing his sports expertise to Gareth Cliff’s breakfast show. Gayle Roux is another new voice joining the station on weekend news. Erica Elle and Christina Knight will be taking on the super-early morning shows on Saturdays and Sundays respectively.
