These secure lockers, using a proven technology already deployed in other markets, will be located in safe and convenient locations including petrol station forecourts, fast food restaurants, office parks and Makro stores. They provide customers with an additional delivery option, which will supplement the home delivery and in-store click and collect solutions already offered by Makro.

Delivery to a secure locker entails customers selecting a convenient locker site that meets their needs, after which they receive a text message confirming that the order is ready for collection, and a unique code to identify themselves and gain access to a locker.

Commenting Makro CEO Doug Jones said, "We view click and collect locker order fulfilment as an important part of our medium term online strategy, as it provides our customers with another convenient touch point with our brand. We are delighted to have concluded an agreement with Sasol, which will provide nationwide access to its extensive forecourt network."

Mohamed Carrim, Head of Retail - Sasol Oil, said, "This is an exciting partnership that uses leading edge technology to reinforce our complementary strengths resulting in added value for our customers and franchisees."

Jones added that he anticipated Makro being in a position to announce further rollout plans by mid-2015.
