New year, do care

Happy 2017, party people! We hope cork popping festive times were had by all. We're back welcoming in the New Year with a wrap-up of our top stories published over the last few weeks.

Haven't made it to the movies to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story yet? Then why not take a gander at Charles Siboto's review, it should convince you. While you're at it, check out his review of one of the most popular summer parties in the Cape; Shimmy Beach Club's Submerged Sunday's with Goldfish.

Other top stories include Leigh Andrews' report-back on the "more is more" burgers and shakes at Gibson's Gourmet Burgers and Ribs, and Terry Levin gives her thoughts on play Bad Jews, still running at The Fugard.

We've got two new comps for you to help usher in 2017; tickets to see Dutch artist Heman van Veen and next Sunday's Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concert featuring Matthew Mole and Jesse Clegg are up for grabs!

P.S. Look out for an avalanche of 2017 trend articles this month with Bizcommunity's annual #BizTrend report across all our industries. We'll be showcasing food, fashion, film and décor trends in the Lifestyle section from next week.

Terry Levin

Maybe the title of this sitcom style play currently on at Cape Town's Fugard Theatre was meant to be deliberately provocative. Maybe the 33-year-old New York City based playwright Joshua Harmon really thinks the characters in the play he wrote in 2012 are irredeemably badass. Read
