MICROmega unit awarded Transnet tender

Investment group MICROmega Holdings (MMG) announced on Thursday (16 February 2012) that its subsidiary company, NOSA, had been awarded a tender by Transnet Rail Engineering to provide a working at heights solution.

The value of the tender was not disclosed.

MICROmega chief executive Greg Morris said: "This contract is strategically significant for NOSA. Whilst NOSA has for the past 61 years been providing occupational health, safety and environmental training and auditing services, it has identified opportunities where the skills within the business and the credibility of the NOSA brand will enable it to gain market share in other aspects of the industry. This new division, Working at Heights, is a good example of one such opportunity."

In terms of SA's Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, all work done at an elevation of 2 metres and higher requires a fall protection plan. The fall protection plan requires equipment, training, procedures and methods to address relevant risks. This all forms part of a working at heights solution.
