Naamsa vehicle sales in November marginally up by 0.9%‚ or 468 vehicles

National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA (Naamsa) vehicle sales in November were marginally up by 0.9%‚ or 468 vehicles‚ to 51‚098 units compared with 50‚630 vehicles sold in November 2013‚ Naamsa said on Tuesday, 2 December.

However‚ total industry sales of 59‚380 reflected a decline of 8‚282 vehicles‚ or a fall of 13.9%‚ when compared with October 2014.

The November industry export sales of 28‚021 units reflected an improvement of 2‚519 exports‚ or a gain of 9.9%‚ compared with the total of 25‚502 vehicles exported in November 2013.

November 2014 new car sales at 33‚278 showed a decline of 845 cars‚ or 2.5%‚ compared with the 34‚123 new cars sold in November last year.

Naamsa said some consolidation in the new car market had been expected following the exceptionally strong sales recorded during October 2014‚ when 40‚663 new cars had been sold.

The association said Mercedes-Benz SA had indicated it would not provide detailed sales data to Naamsa in future. It would disclose only aggregated new vehicle sales data to the Department of Trade and Industry‚ Naamsa said.
