Durban fashion comes home for expoThe first ever Durban Fashion Extravaganza, a three-day fashion show featuring Durban-born fashion designers and models will take place from 2-4 June 2011 at the Docklands Hotel and Moyo Pier from 7pm each evening. During the three days, a trunk sale will be held at the Docklands Hotel between 10am and 6pm, to provide retail space for all participating designers. The show will feature some of the city's finest big name exports - Gavin Rajah, Malcolm Klûk, Dax Martin, Craig Native, Fundudzi - and is a showcase for invited design houses - Carducci, Liz Ogumbo, Terrence Bray and new young designers from the Durban University Of Technology. The first day kicks off with a Young Designers Collective, featuring collections by top second and third year students from the Durban University of Technology and Linear Academy. Guest designer and recording artist Liz Ogumbo makes a special appearance, presenting a collection from her label. House of Monatic will close the first day festivities with its latest collections from Carducci women and Carducci C-squared. Day two will feature Durban-born fashion designer Gavin Rajah, making his return to the catwalk after a two-year absence with a collection of his signature frocks. Also on show, the crowned Designers of the Year at the recent Arise Magazine Fashion Week held in Lagos, Klûk CGDT, will showcase its winning designs. The show will feature Durban-born models on the runway, including former Miss South Africa Claudia Henkel; Miriam Ngomani and Calvin Klein model and Selimathunzi presenter Lunga Shabalala.
