Internationally renowned director Greg Francois has joined Fresh Eye Films, bringing a new element to the production company's diverse portfolio of talent.
With his enviable showreel including ads such as Three Ships - Whisky and The Sea, Aqua Minerale - Volleyball, Dunlop - Own the City and Aqua Minerale - Venice, Francois is recognised for creating powerful television commercials that are both emotionally charged yet conceptually relevant.
Francois says he chose Fresh Eye because of its reputation, passion and integrity: "The style of my work also needed to complement the production house's current roster of directors rather than offering more of the same. My work is extremely visual with emphasis on beauty, which I believe adds a new element."
In the fourteen years Greg has been directing commercials, he has built a reputation for adding fantastic production value to a diverse range of multi-national accounts across the globe. He has shot 12 Aqua Minerale commercials and helped position them at the top end of the market.
He began his career as an art director in the advertising industry. This background gave him an insight into the specific advertising requirements the commercial medium required. Speaking the same language as ad agencies has allowed him to seamlessly bridge the gap between concept, advertising requirements and visual execution.
Francois, who has just finished shooting the latest Dunlop ad, yet to be flighted, says it was a rare experience: "The ad is a series of stunts and the film crew was blown away by the death defying abilities of these remarkable athletes. Post-production effects have dulled our appreciation of such stunts but to witness a human being like you and me leap from one building to the next ten stories up and unassisted is quite something."
His goal at Fresh Eye: "It has taken me the last fifteen years to hone my craft, giving me the skills and experience necessary to create the quality of pictures that makes a good ad great. My focus is to continue growing, pushing these boundaries to produce work that is as visually striking as it conceptually relevant."
Fresh Eye Executive Producer Gavin Gillespie welcomed Francois aboard: "Greg is a seasoned director with immense talent and will be adding massive value to the Fresh Eye stable. Greg's ability to take commercials and give them a visual signature is a huge strength of his, we are very excited and looking forward to a great future with him."
