Maserame Mouyeme appointed Group MD at FCB South Africa

Maserame Mouyeme has been appointed group managing director of FCB South Africa, the country's largest marketing communications group.

This highlights the valuable contribution she has made to the group's business success over the past few years and confirms her standing as one of the most respected and powerful women in advertising today.

Making the announcement to staff FCB South Africa CEO, Neil van der Weele, said it effectively positioned Mouyeme as his '2IC' as, when he is out of the country on FCB South Africa or FCB worldwide business, she will assume full responsibility for running the business.

Mouyeme's day-to-day responsibilities will include the overall performance of all the FCB-branded traditional full-service advertising agencies and specialist communication companies, as well as seeing to a number of additional group issues.

She joined the group in 2002 as group managing director of its specialised communication companies. An MBA graduate who has held senior marketing positions at Unifoods, Kelloggs and Coca-Cola, Mouyeme also managed a 45-person advertising agency before coming across to FCB South Africa.

"Maserame's strong background in business, marketing and brand management has benefited FCB South Africa considerably these past two years while her involvement in the advertising industry through the South African Advertising Research Foundation (SAARF) and Association for Communication and Adverting (ACA) has demonstrated her passion and concern for the health of the industry," said Van der Weele.

"With her excellent people-leadership qualities as well as business acumen spanning advertising and marketing, finance, human resources, strategic development, client relationship management and more, Maserame is the ideal person to lead FCB South Africa into the future. I am delighted she has accepted the position," he said.
