National Lottery appoints new advertising agency

National Lottery operator, Uthingo Management today confirmed the appointment of FCB South Africa as its new advertising agency, effective from April 1, 2004.

FCB South Africa takes over the account from Saatchi & Saatchi, which has been contracted to Uthingo since the launch of the National Lottery in March 2000.

"We believe FCB South Africa will bring a new dimension to the National Lottery. It is a reliable company with a strong integrated approach to brand communication and has extensive experience in marketing consumer brands," says Uthingo's Marketing Director, Lebona Moleli.

Nkwenkwe Nkomo, Group Deputy Chairman of FCB South Africa says that the National Lottery account will be an extremely important one for FCB.

"We believe our strong BEE credentials also helped us to secure the account."

A request for proposal was published in selected newspapers, inviting agencies to pitch for Uthingo's creative and media account in November 2003. Following a rigorous evaluation process, FCB South Africa was awarded the multi-million rand account.
