"East Coast Radio gave me a roof!"

Veronica Ndlovu built her home in the remote village of Elandskop with the four children she has taken in. Recent storms caused severe damage to their home, tearing the roof off, leaving her and her family without shelter.

But that was only until Petra Byloo, decided to step in. She entered “The Ladder” promotion on East Coast Radio's Breakfast Show with her friend Bronwen Hurt, and they won! They climbed all the way to the top of The Ladder, the game where YOU get to choose the prize and they chose a roof for Veronica!

“I was desperate to help Veronica. After her roof blew off she took a loan from the bank and bought the building material to have a new roof done, but was held up at her house the very next day and all the material was stolen. She was left with no roof still, no building material and a loan to repay. All I wanted was a roof for her and I knew that if we won the ladder she would have a roof over her head,” said Petra.

Veronica was beside herself when she found out about her employers' efforts to help her. “I am very happy and grateful to Petra and East Coast Radio. At least I can sleep in a warm and dry house now. I just want to say thank you to them,” said an emotional Veronica.

Upon hearing The Ladder on air - Gerard Chendriah, a roofing Solutions Specialist at Oduline Roofing was quick to offer their assistance. Oduline Roofing sponsored all the materials as well as fitted Veronica's house with a brand new roof. In addition, they are currently training a member of her family on how to lay a roof so that he will be skilled and then able to help Oduline when they need to do more work in the area.

“Oduline Roofing is glad to be able to help her, no roof in this kind of weather is horrible. Her story really touched us and we just wanted to be able to give a little more,” said Chendriah.
