How matric sets you up for success

More than 40% of youth without a matric certificate are likely to end up unemployed. This is according to a survey done by Equal Education on youth and matric results. It established that a matric certificate is still very important.

Matric is one of the most important but underrated certificates an individual can have. It is the key document that can assist you to secure many things in life. In the professional field, it is the minimum requirement to get a job. Majority of vacancies demand a matric certificate and without it, opportunities for employment become more and more uncertain.

Nabo Mbuzo is a 19-year-old ICESA matric student from Sydenham with serious plans for her future. While she has very big aspirations, she realises that she cannot get to where she sees herself in the future without completing her matric. She adds that even though it is very challenging being a student and requires focus and determination, it is the end goal that pushes her to pour herself into her studies.

“Matric is the key to life. Without it there are very few options and the best time to do it is when we are young and in our prime,” said Nabo.

Nabo plans to study Medical Law next year. She is determined and believes that her hard work is surely going to pay off. For her, the starting point to her dream is obtaining exceptional results in her matric year.

Shakira Mahabeer, Student Councillor at ICESA said matric forms an important part in the building blocks of a student’s career: “We work very hard to ensure that students have the support they need to get through stressful exam periods.”

Matric is not just about the piece of paper, but it is also about the performance level or points achieved in the final exams. These marks determine the next step to be taken. Tertiary institutions are very strict when it comes to students they accept into their programmes. They have very specific benchmark points that determine which student will be offered space to study. It is therefore critical for students to take their matric seriously.

Make sure that you study hard to achieve these requirements and ICESA Matric School has all the tools that will help you get the best results, ensuring the journey into the next level is much easier. Good luck to all students writing trials and preparing for the biggest exam of their lives. Study hard and earn the most important document of your life.
