Damelin Benoni students enjoy a Valentine's Day treat

Damelin is increasingly becoming an institution that promotes campus life and emphasises the balance between work and play. With the pressures of studying, it can be easy to forget to relax your mind and body. For Valentine's Day the Benoni campus demonstrated love and caring by providing a calm day for students to get some reprieve from their daily campus lives.

The day also featured the screening of the romantic comedy movie, Bridget Jones’s Baby, with free popcorn, cool drinks and chocolates. Academic manager Tendai Nyangari said that she had students coming to enquire when the campus would be hosting another move day like this one. “It was a lot of fun for the students and they deserve some fun time before the year becomes busy for them with their studies. It’s nice to be able to do something small and have it appreciated by the students. It makes you feel good to be able to do something nice,“ said Tendai.

In addition to the music and movies, the staff and students were encouraged to wear pink and red. While not everyone embraced the color scheme, the campus was definitely brighter and spirits higher. The movie and popcorn screening is set to become a regular highlights at Damelin Benoni every year. After the success of the first Valentine’s Day of music, movies and snacks at Damelin Benoni, it is sure the campus will give students the opportunity to have fun in a learning environment again.
