The National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination pass rate for 2015 dropped to 70.7%, bringing it down from the 75.8% achieved in 2014. There are a number of factors that could have led to these poor results. One of them, according to the National Teachers Union spokesperson, Alan Thompson may be due to the departments ‘failure to address the critical shortage of teachers.’
