Vega Durban students scoop top NPC Photographic Competition awards!

Vega Durban has reason to pop the champagne corks: Brandon Celine, 2010 BA Creative Brand Communications student, is the overall winner of the NPC Photographic Competition. He was chosen out of hundreds of entries that poured in for the NPC-CIMPOR Stories Set In Time Photographic Competition, which challenged photographers to capture the essence of any concrete form that embraces the spirit of a story, fictional or fact.
Apart from Brandon walking away with R20 000 for his 1st place, he also had a second image as part of the top 33 selected images. Third place went to one of Vega Durban's Part Time Photography Navigators, Andrew Griffin, a well known and reputed Durban Photographer. Roanne Sutcliffe, a 2011 student in the Higher Certificate in Photography, also had an image selected as one of the top 33.

Vega Durban participated in the NPC Photographic competitions in 2009 and 2010. Last year Andrew Griffin was the overall winner and Michelle Hibbert (a 2010 Higher Certificate in Photography student) took third place. In addition to this, Shane Childs and Olivia Davel, also Higher Certificate in Photography students, had photographs which were part of the top images on show. Vega's very own Photography Navigator Lanel Janse van Vuuren and well known photographer Angela Buckland (also one of Vega Durban's Part Time Photography Navigators) had images on show at the KZNSA Gallery in 2009.

The current Top 33 images are on show at the KZNSA Gallery, where Vega Durban has four images displayed.

"Congratulations to all the Vega winners! We are proud of your amazing achievements and wish you well in your future careers. These accolades prove once again that our lecturing standards at Vega equip our students to excel beyond their classrooms", says Ralf Degni, Vega CEO.
