Boston offers full-time, part-time and flexible study options to suit both the individual or corporate needs. Registrations later in the year are accepted due to our unique learning methodology, and provided that we have places available. A further feature that makes Boston City Campus and Business College so highly regarded is its partnership with Unisa and the opportunities is afford students to do university degree courses via distance learning. At the beginning of this year, for example, the value of studying through Boston was illustrated when Unisa students across the country had great difficulty in registering directly with University. "Though registrations for this year opened last year December, lots of students left registration for last day,” comments Ari Katz, CEO of Boston City Campus and Business College. “We heard that the Unisa services centers were hectic. As a Unisa licensee, Boston City Campus spent most of that last week assisting students and their parents with registrations. It is remarkable to see that a degree remains a highly sought-after qualification.”

And fortunately, Katz adds, getting a degree has become a dream within the reach of many, even despite less-than-ideal economic conditions. Those who wish to obtain a degree have wonderful study options. They can register as regular correspondence students and study independently from home; or, in the case of Unisa, they can register for distance learning yet attend classes and experience the life of a regular student. Katz believes many students are opting for Unisa distance learning as it is cost effective and has become more student-friendly. “Distance learning need not mean that a student sits isolated without the support of a lecture and socialisation with other students,” he says. "This is where Boston helps students convert dreams to reality.”

In 1996, Unisa entered into a license agreement with Boston City Campus and Business College which means that Boston lecture support to those registered for the following Unisa degrees: Bachelor of Commerce (BCom); Bachelor of Accounting Science (BCompt), Bachelor of Law (LLB), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Arts (BA)and BCompt Hons. Students who do Unisa degrees via Boston enjoy the same lifestyle and academic support as full-time students studying at regular universities including:

  • Attending classes according to a timetable at the Boston City Campus in Bedfordview, Umhlanga Rocks and Pretoria.
  • Accessing lecturer assistance.
  • Receiving professional study material over and above the Unisa course material.
  • Accessing special exam preparation programmes, including revision, receiving tutorials packs and writing mock exam papers.
  • Writing exams at Boston City Campus with Unisa invigilators in attendance. No need to travel to Unisa exam venues.
  • Living the life of regular varsity students, including socialising at the canteen and participating in social activities.

  • Receiving administration and registration support at Boston - no need to drive to Pretoria.

"Part-time students for Unisa degrees at Boston City Campus enjoy the same privileges as full-time students with the difference that they attend classes after-hours. Students shouldn't enroll for a degree for wrong reasons, such as false belief that degrees are superior to other qualifications; because their parents or friends have degrees; or because they have not done proper career planning. Enroll for a degree because it is the required qualification to follow the career of your choice or because you have reached a ceiling in your present career and need to study further to progress,” says Katz.
