Respect for human dignity - 21 May 2012

By Rod Baker, Content Director

President Zuma's portrait - you know the one we're talking about - has kept Gail Schimmel awake. The issue, she says, is that the moment we decide that there is a certain category of person that deserves no dignity, we are on a slippery slope.

The Sunday Times editor, Ray Hartley, is a man who wants answers - don't we all... It was claimed in court that the newspaper's journalists had accepted bribes in order to write slanted articles and Hartley - and the rest of us - would like to see the evidence.

When it comes to one-to-one cross-media marketing campaigns, Chene Cundill has some pointers - and a question: "Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, and some people wonder what happened. Which one are you?"

South Africa has a rich music heritage and song has been a powerful weapon in driving social change, so it's not surprising that Tebogo Koena in a second of two opinion pieces, asks why are we not branding our local music?

Finally, Virginia Hollis is leaving The MediaShop to go freelance - but her first client is... The MediaShop, and she will continue to work with the team for the next few months.
