The Brand Union Cape Town has been helping clients build brands since March 2011 and quickly built up a blue-chip client base including SAB and Standard Bank. The office was established with the acquisition of global design agency Coley Porter Bell whose strong creative ethos in Cape Town was recognised with awards at both Loeries and Apex.
The acquisition brought with it a wealth of talent including the strategy director Mathew Weiss, who left the UK to co-find the Cape Town operation of Coley Porter Bell in 2008.
While at Coley Porter Bell Mathew was responsible for establishing the agency's reputation for quality, streamlined brand thinking and in 2009, Coley Porter Bell became the first design agency to win a Silver Loerie for effectiveness and the first South African agency to win a Gold APG Effectiveness award (UK).
Mathew has accumulated broad experience in both advertising and design working in the US, Latin America and EMEA where he has built brands across a range of industries including FMCG, financial services, hospitality and tourism.
Now The Brand Union is proud to announce that Mathew has been designated as the new managing director of The Brand Union Cape Town. In this role he will focus on building the agency's creative culture and continue to seek out clients who see the valuable role that design, in all its forms, can play in growing their brands.
