Seychelles launches nifty travel app

The Seychelles Tourism Board launched its new mobile app which features detailed maps and augmented reality (AR) capability. The application also allows visitors to rate and write reviews of restaurants and hotels on the island.

Detailed maps of the archipelago are available which can be used together with the built-in GPS of smartphones to help visitors know exactly where they are going and estimated time of arrival depending on their means of transportation.

It has an augmented reality (AR) feature similar to the one used in the Pokémon Go game. With the AR feature, users can point their devices at any direction and get to see places such as restaurants and cafes located in their vicinity.

The Seychelles Travel Guide app is compatible with all major smartphones and is available for download free of charge - Android and iPhone. Once downloaded, the application which is available in multiple languages also works offline.

STB’s head of e-marketing, Vahid Jacob, said, "We've tried to include everything on offer in the Seychelles spanning from accommodation available to restaurants, attractions as well as tourism activities within one app.”
