Agri Tech Company news South Africa

Surveillance technology saves farmer's life

With the current climate regarding farm attacks, prevention and assurance is more important than ever before. There is a surveillance technology company that is attempting to bring this message across to the country and, with a recent incident involving their product and how its instant alert technology prevented the unthinkable, RikRhino has dedicated itself to assisting farmers with their needs as much as possible.

This type of technology attempts to ensure that farmers in South Africa who may be targeted do not become another statistic.

In the early hours of 26 October 2017, a farmer in Mokopane, Limpopo, was suddenly woken up when a photo sent from Qubi Systems Modimolle was received on his smartphone.

The photo showed two thieves on his property, spurring him into action to confront them. The first photo (00:39) shows the perpetrators entering his grounds, while the second (02:45) shows the farmer and his staff searching for the alleged criminals. Thanks to the effectiveness of Qubi Systems Modimolle, the farmer was able to prevent what could have been a life-threatening situation.

Qubi Systems Modimolle was implemented 12 years ago, and has since greatly influenced the ever-increasing crime rate in South Africa, as well as having a positive influence in protecting the property and assets of both institutions and individuals.

The goal of Qubi is to integrate a variety of hardware into the surveillance market, including CCTV systems and trail cameras with GSM (Global Systems Mobile Technology), allowing you to interact with the system via your mobile phone. In this way, the Qubi Systems Sensornet Gateway successfully harnesses the well-known and popular 14 MP Scouting Game Trail Camera with GSM capability which is distributed in South Africa by RikRhino Surveillance.

In a situation like the one the farmer found himself in, when the camera’s sensor is activated, it takes a photograph which is then sent to the Qubi System. This photo is forwarded to the client and all of the numbers and email addresses they have registered on the Sensornet System at a nominal fee of approximately 1c per photo.

Greater adequacy, efficiency and affordability is achieved by sending, photos to the client via the control system. The popular and reliable 14 MP Wireless Digital Scouting Game Trail Camera with GSM, is supplied by RikRhino and is available for R4999 (ex. vat). The camera excludes batteries and a SIM card, but does include an 8GB SD card. A 12-month subscription to the Qubi Sensornet Gateway control system is payable in advance at R1175 per annum.

It is through innovators like Qubi and Rik Rhino that the ultimate in private and commercial security can be achieved, and where users can sleep soundly knowing their property is monitored and protected at all times.
