Across the globe, Pinotage events, promotions and campaigns have been created in countries like the USA, UK, Europe and Asia, with campaigns from California to Japan and tastings in London and Germany.
Locally, wineries have created numerous Pinotage events and promotions to celebrate SA’s national wine. Visitors can expect a Pinotage Carnival, FunRun and MTB race, as well as vertical tastings and exclusive pairing menus.
Centralised cellar door competitions have also been initiated and entrants will be able to enter a competition via entry boxes at numerous cellar doors and tasting rooms – alternatively, entries can be submitted on a digital platform via Facebook. Pinotage producers including Neethlingshof, Beyerskloof, Simonsig, Lanzerac, Van Loveren and Kanonkop will be offering special tastings and events. More info can be found on our website.
Pinotage and Biltong Festival will be celebrated in Centurion over the Pinotage Day weekend, 14 to 15 October. Wine lovers in Gauteng will have the opportunity to celebrate Pinotage Day in truly South African style with Biltong and a glass or two of Pinotage.
Lanzerac will host vertical Pinotage tastings, special Pinotage promotions and offer wonderful Pinotage picnic baskets.
Celebrate International Pinotage day by participating in this 8km Jeep track off-road fun run. Wine tastings every +-2km on route. All shapes and ages welcome, but no wine for under 18’s. Bottle of wine to each finisher (older than 18). Food, music, entertainment and more fun waiting at the finish line. Guests can find parking at the entrance of Neethlingshof, where a tractor will give you a lift to the tasting area / starting line.
Local favourites Jack & Black will set the scene while you enjoy a special Pinotage tasting and get 10% off any Pinotage wines purchased at Simonsig Tasting Room. Selected older Pinotage vintages will also be made available for purchase on the day. Beyerskloof is presenting a Pinotage Carnival to celebrate International Pinotage Day Pinotage Burgers, Pino dogs, Pizza, Pancakes with a Pinotage surprise and Pinotage Gelato available to purchase at one of the food stalls. For Pinotage Day, Kanonkop is offering a ten vintage vertical tasting of the Kanonkop Estate Pinotage. The tasting will be in their art gallery, and no pre-booking required. Tasting fee is R50 per person, and will include a tasting of their range of current wines. The Black Label Pinotage is also available for tasting at an additional fee of R100.
