German video-on-demand launches in South Africa

ProSiebenSat.1 Welt has announced the launch of a video-on-demand mobile app and website that allows German expats based in South Africa and 15 other countries to view German produced shows around the clock.

The German mass media company, operating commercial television, premium pay channels, radio stations and related print businesses, offers German series, film, and sports in programming ranging from the humorous comedy series "Danni Lowinski" to thrilling crime formats such as "Der letzte Bulle" and the Bundesliga Magazine amongst other shows.

The app can be found at the AppStore and the GooglePlay store. With monthly subscriptions, the first month will be free, followed by a monthly fee of Euro 7.90. This subscription can be cancelled monthly. Six months subscriptions are available at EURO 39.90 with the first month free of charge, these can be cancelled once the six months has expired and will save viewers 24% in costs compared to monthly subscriptions.

The corresponding app and website, offers its own programming, regardless of what is being broadcast from the regular schedule in Germany. The programmes can be accessed on computers, tablets, as well as mobile phones on the go. The app and website can also be used around the world in countries including Argentina, Brazil, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, Paraguay, Poland, Russia, Spain, Hungary and the US.
