Renewable Project Engineer - JHB North, Gauteng

Our client who is known as a dynamic forward-thinking engineering firm specialising in construction, and consulting services, as well as expanding into the Power Producer (IPP) market is looking for a Renewable Project Engineer.

The Project Engineer will focus on solar energy initiatives both locally and internationally, overseeing tasks, ensuring project success, and contributing to sustainable energy advancement.

Work Activities and Responsibilities:

• Plan, execute, and oversee solar projects, ensuring adherence to timelines,
• quality, and budget.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to align projects with goals and regulations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations for optimal solutions.
• Perform site-specific engineering analysis for energy efficiency.
• Develop plans for solar system development and evaluation.
• Conduct site audits for system design.
• Create electrical diagrams using AutoCAD for solar systems.
• Review specs and suggest changes for solar design goals.
• Provide technical guidance for project enhancement.
• Develop design specs for solar components.
• Monitor project progress and mitigate risks.
• Offer technical support during installation and testing.
• Simulate solar system performance for efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Create inspection checklists for solar projects.
• Test PV cells and modules.
• Perform analysis for solar system optimization.
• Assist in the tender process for solar projects,
• Stay updated on industry developments and share knowledge.
• Assist with transmission and distribution projects as needed.
• Manage construction projects when required.

 
Skills and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; additional certifications in Renewable
• Energy beneficial.
• Master's degree or extra certifications in electrical power, renewable energy advantageous-
• 7 to 10+ years proven experience in electrical networks, feasibility studies, with exposure to solar design.
• Experience in energy yield assessments, financial modelling for energy projects.
• Knowledge of local and international energy codes, standards.
• Strong grasp of solar system design, photovoltaic tech, related software.
• Familiarity with permitting, utility interconnection, commissioning for solar.
• Competence in Electrical Engineering software like AutoCAD, PowerFactory, PSSE
• Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project), CAD software for solar design.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in English; French knowledge advantageous-
• Adaptability to fast-paced environments, multitasking, teamwork, pressure handling-
• Strong computer skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
